A little flattery is always welcome
I've been feeling a little bit like I'm in a rut lately, not really bad, but not especially great either, just kind of blah, probably attributable to the gray skies and short days. Arriving to school at dawn in a cold drizzle, probably didn't help matters this morning. Despite my mood, after a relatively productive morning, I headed to the gym for a quick workout before my afternoon classes.I was waging the ongoing War on Abs (a war which cannot be won, sort of like Iraq, but that's another discussion), and one of my most favorite gym crushes came in. He's tall and muscular, hair shorn like mine, and has big brown eyes; we have a long-standing policy of smiling at each other, but never speaking.
Today he broke that policy and introduced himself to me - he was quite friendly and his name is Travis. Within a few minutes of very pleasant nice-to-meet-you chit chat, I mentioned that I have a boyfriend. He stopped and asked, "if you have a boyfriend, does that mean I can't ask you out?" I told him it did, and he said, "I'm sorry to hear that."
After that, my extra sets of incline crunches didn't hurt quite as much.

Awww...that's an awesome feeling. :)
Of course, with all the old crazy men and menopausal women in my gym, I would prefer the keep any adoration at a distance. :)
See, even in your old age and losing battle with the bulge, you still have it going on!!!
It's always nice when the Crush goes both ways.
yup, well Ilost out on my six pack to my eastern european pal. czechOUT the summer of sixpack post to compare. He did well, quite rather well I think!

Hey, nothing inherently wrong with being asked out. Just that you can't go, that's all. And nothing wrong with complimenting a guy, either. We all need them.
That's one of those warm fuzzy feelings. :-)
Coooper! I so hate you lol. Pass him onto me lol. Why does nothing like this ever happen to me? Sigh.
and that, my friend, is why I moved to San Diego. Those cold, cloudy, dreary days are killer on the mind.
You can enjoy sun here and I'm sure, get complimented just as much!
I had always thought that "I have a boyfriend, so you can't ask me out" carried the implicit message: "but we can have a hot shag on the side, and you won't have to call me the next day." But I guess that's not true for everyone, eh?
i hear you. i have this little bulge at the bottom of my abs that i cant get rid of for the life of me.
ive never had anyone introduce themselves to me at the gym.
I just want to thank you for telling the guy at the gym that you have a boyfriend and staying true to your relationship. I know way too many men who would have done the opposite. Nice to know there are guys like you out there. : ) Enjoy the flattery though...its always nice to know someone did a double take....
